In 2023, I was commissioned to lead the design and concept for a resource accompanying the relaunch of the Sainsbury Centre. This evolved into A Handbook for Living Art. The publication offers a series of practical steps and techniques to help individuals form a personal connection with a living work of art. Since the content was primarily text-based, featuring quotes and activities, I designed an engaging manual-style publication. The handbook is perfect bound, with a mirrored cover that reflects the reader, reinforcing its interactivity as a resource.
In developing the concept, I aimed to merge the traditional format of a ‘manual’ with abstracted imagery, capturing the experience of navigating the space in a new way—one that echoes the objects and distinctive architecture within the Sainsbury Centre gallery

To create the imagery, I combined archival and object photography with handmade textures. These visuals accompany flowchart-style prompts that encourage new ways to move, feel, think, and engage within the museum.
Designed to be taken away and explored in any gallery or museum setting, this handbook has become a key part of the gallery’s renewed vision.
